Our Story
Freedom Wheels was founded in Houston, Texas in 1991 to provide vehicle modifications for persons with disabilities. It began operations with just three people, including the current owner and operator Carlos Saez. Thirty years later Mr. Saez still operates Freedom Wheels and has expanded its business to include provision of a full line of products and services that promote independence for persons with disabilities.

In 1996, Carlos founded Independent Driving Systems (IDS) to design and manufacture driving systems for persons with higher levels of disability. Freedom Wheels carries the full line of high-tech driving equipment manufactured by IDS and distributed with Drive-master Systems and Controls. Their equipment is the best, simplest to install and safest equipment available today. All equipment meets or exceeds the guidelines established by the former Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services(DARS) and the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA).
In 2014 IDS began designing and manufacturing autonomous driving systems for different types of vehicles. IDS driving systems have been installed in vehicles throughout the United States, Canada and South America.
